The Kansas City Chiefs were considering Kadarius Toney as their WR1 in 2023.
After Mecole Hardman's return, he may be phased out of the offense by Week 8.
On October 23, Chiefs writer Joe Summers of FanSided said, “I firmly believed that reacquiring Mecole Hardman would eat into Skyy Moore's snaps and not Toney's.
Summers called Toney his top KC player “on thin ice” entering into Week 8, and it's hard to dispute.
He said “Toney played just 19% of snaps, his second-lowest total of the season, while Moore played 60%.
he former first-round pick had one grab on one target for 13 yards and played only two more offensive snaps than Hardman, who arrived a few days earlier.
Hardman and Toney have played comparable roles in KC, so the WR trade reunion may reduce Toney's role.
Toney has struggled in 2023 with dropped passes and reluctance on intended runs.
