Cleveland Regains Former Starting RB in Trade Pitch

In Cleveland's Week 7 triumph over the Indianapolis Colts, Jerome Ford injured his ankle, leaving Kareem Hunt and Peirre Strong Jr. to handle the load.

Both played well Sunday, but Ford's persistent issues will hurt an already struggling offense.

Eight days until the trade deadline, the Browns are expected to be active in their search for wide receiver and offensive line help.

On Monday, October 23, Bleacher Report's NFL Staff advised Cleveland trade D'Ernest Johnson to Jacksonville.

The Browns need a strong rushing game if [Deshaun] Watson is out for a while.

Without Nick Chubb, the Browns need a rotating playmaking backfield. Seeing D'Ernest Johnson again would be a familiar sight.

Johnson was a backup or third-string running back in Cleveland from 2019-22. He made two starts and played all 17 games in a breakout 2021 season.

Pro Football Reference reported 534 rushing yards, 137 receiving yards, and 3 touchdowns for Johnson that season.
